Pushkaram, an Indian festival, is celebrated by worshiping the 12 holy rivers associated to a particular Zodiac sign. The river for the holy dip is decided as per the sign in which Jupiter is during that time. it is believed that Pushkara- the God with the power to make any river holy, travels with Jupiter and enters the river to purify it spiritually.
Bhima Pushkaram happens every 12 years at the banks of Bhima river. The Bhimarathi Pushkaram in 2018 is happening at Bhimashankar- one of the 12 esteemed Jyotirlinga Shrines- after 144 years) Thousands of Hindu devotees attend this holy event to take a bath as a ritual to get rid of all sins and help them enhance their physical and mental health.
